My brother graduated last night, his final moments of high school. Pictures from the ceremony will be uploaded possibly, soon. Each graduate got a tree, a little tiny thing, to plant and watch grow and prosper, to resemble themselves. How symbolic. To my amusement, my Mum informed me it was not a tree, but a simple shrubbery! Still, very thoughtful of the school.

I wore a relatively simple outfit, first it was with a skirt but I switched it for shorts and tights. Didn't want to look too fancy or too casual. Straightened my hair for a fancier look!

So sorry for the lack of post I have been extremely busy! School is all finished now which is great, hopefully more posts will be up soon. My summer is all planned out, I am no longer going to greece but I am going to horseback riding camp for an extra two weeks. It should be lots of fun!

Hello dear readers! Today was OK I guess...I have a really bad, sore throat though. Ah, well. Exams are coming closer every day so I can't take a day off for "illness" right now! Only about a month of school left! Then I am free! This summer I am going to horseback riding camp for 2 weeks, then in the city for a week or two, maybe a one of those weeks at the cottage. Then I am off to Greece for 2-3 weeks! My Mum's homeland! Haha. One of the islands. I'll be staying with relatives I have never met, and my Grandmother I see very rarely! It should be fun. Then I am off to London, England for the rest of the summer. What a jet-setter I will be! What are your plans? xox

Ready for Combat...But Have a Sip of Tea, First

Dear readers, have I got a story for you! I have wanted Doc Martens or any sort of combat boot for a long while now. I walked down to one of my second favorite vintage store Second Nature Boutique (the first being Act Two, both on Mt. Pleasant in Toronto) and found these SPECTACULAR boots in the basement for...wait for it...FIVE DOLLARS. Amazing condition, the lady said they were selling them for 30 dollars but decided to reduce it for one week, then bring them back up to 30. I admit, they're a tad small, but not uncomfortably so. Paired up with my tiered floral skirt with accents of electrifying hot pink, these boots are ready for combat...after tea. Tank, unknown; skirt, H&M; boots, vintage.

Romp Around the Garden

I admit it, I always wanted a romper but was too afraid to buy one. While in American Apparel I found this super soft halter romper, and I knew I just had to have it. I loved how it felt like I was wearing cozy pajamas, and it had a pretty sexy low back, too. Paired with a slick red skinny belt, black tights, a printed scarf, a leather jacket and classic kicks, this romper is ready for some romping. From top: Adorable blouse from H&M that my mum got me. I love the little bow, it just adds the perfect touch to the stripes...it looks so french! Next down was a rose design on an elastic which i clipped off and attached to a black hair clip (temporarily with double sided tape, soon to be super glued!). Next is my second hand miumius which i picked up at the vintage boutique Act Two in Toronto. Next is my new gladiators from Nine West, although i feel I should have bought the coloured ones. I still enjoy these. Ignore the quick point-and-shoot photography! Not my best photos, haha.

4. FAUX EYELASHES (yeah, they are insane, but whether you are partying it up and want some extra glamour, or want some spice in your life, GO FO THE FAUX!)

5. Stunner Shades (A pair of shades in crucial. I don't care if you rock ray bans, Oliver peoples, forever 21 shades.. as long as you have the confident peices, rock it)

6. A signature Item (maybe this is a ring that you wear everyday, or a scarf, a bracelet. something that distinguishes yourslef.. NOT CLOTHING!! HAHA)

Q: What was the best purchase you've ever made?

EEK, I don't know! I have this high waisted skirt that I just love.. goes with almost everything.. but then I have my leather bomber.. and a bunch of these tights in like a trillion colours. Ah, I don't know my favorite.

Q: What will you be wearing this spring?

High waisted denim shorts, some mexican themed blouses, hippie headbands, light tights, leingere inspired dresses, tulle skirts, but mixing this all with some hard core rock and roll items, like metal cuffs, studded earring, but then we have another look I like, which is the lacey bows, uber girly thing. SO definatly some bows in there.

Q: Describe your style in 1-3 sentences.

My style is defiantly a huge blend of styles. Some days I'll wear band tees and shredded shorts with some punk tights, or some pretty dress with a bow and a pretty headband. And then somedays I am some hardcore hippie. Its all depending on my mood.. and if the laundry is clean!

Q: What's your favorite beauty product?

Philosophy's "Falling In Love" perfume. Awesome, and only 15 bucks at Sephora

Q: When did you start developing your own sense of style, and how?

Proabaly around 5th grade, where my style was juicy sweatsuits and shirts that said, "JUICY IS MY RACKET BALL!" or some cuhrazy mess. After a while though, I started to realize that everyone looked like me, and even when I was twelve, I didn't want to look like everyone else, so I was a wacky dresser from there on. =)

Q: What inspires you?

Colors really inspire me, I was looking at a magazine where they had lilac and grey and creme, and that inspired me to use my lilac tights, grey high waisted skirt and creme blouse. Colors make an outfit to me.

Q: What are some of your favorite stores?

I have a lot of secret little thrift stores i like, specifically a store called Pippin, Angel Street Thrift Shop.. in addition to mainstream places like Urban, American Apparel, Bloomingdales, Forever21... etc.

Q: What is your "fashion-rule" you live by?

BLACK AND BLUE SO DON'T MATCH. ahha, I kid. My rule (cliche!) is that there are no rules. Fashion is a cycle.. 10 years ago high waisted jeans were mom jeans, and no some of the most glam people in the WORLD are rocking them. So when you have rules, you're restricted to change, which is what fashion is.

Q: Any advice, comments for all us fashionistas?

Take one thing of before you leave the house! - Coco Chanel, thank you, because when you have on earrings, and headbands, and shades, and braclets, and a scarf.. NO. Take one thing off and your outfit will be a little sweeter.

Spring Has Sprung

-A poem my Dad always says at springtime. Boyd is bird, Absoyd is absurd. But it is always funnier when pronounced that way.

Spring is finally here. And boy oh boy am I ever happy! I have had a severe case of Spring Fever since, oh, say...January? It is time to break out of those winter clothes and do some spring cleaning to stock up for what you need to have a fashionable, fun, eco-friendly, delicious, lovely and extraordinary Spring/Summer '08!

A Necklace to Die For:

This freakishly adorable necklace from Adore Vintage is my must-have spring accesory. Dear readers, this dainty little necklae reminds me of when i was little and in the summer would make flower crowns out of a bendy twig and lace it with fresh daisies and would wear it with a little linnen sun dress.

Some must-reads for Spring 08:

The Daring Book for Girls, looks like an enjoyable, fun read for laying out on the grass, your toes being tickled by the flowers, and learning everything there is to see and do while being a girl.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower has always been on my top-reads list. I adore this cute little book in every single way. Go buy it. Now. Thats an order.

Eco-Chic:

Take a note from Agyness (by the way, I LOVE her outfit) who high-tailed it from one runway to the next on her cute little bike. I vote you all run to your nearest vintage bike store and pick up a little red skinny one with a whicker basket in the front. Pack it with one of the books mentioned above, throw on a little dress and some gladiator sandals, a packed lunch, and you're on your way to a lovely afternoon.

Tasty Treats:

Who doesn't want a deliciously spring-y flavoured lip gloss from Philosophy? The "You are my Sunshine" lemonade lip-gelato is as delicious and lovely as the name suggests. Go pick it up at a Sephora store nearest to you.

Winter may call for decandently rich baked goods, but for Spring, I don't only like to lighten up in the makeup and clothes department, I like to lighten up in my baking, too. Take it from FoodTV with these yummy lemon squares.

12 tablespoons (1 1/2 sticks), plus 1 tablespoon cold unsalted butter

1 3/4 cups plus 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

2/3 cup confectioners' sugar, plus more for garnish

1/4 cup cornstarch

3/4 teaspoon salt plus a pinch

4 eggs, lightly beaten

1 1/3 cups granulated sugar

1 1/2 teaspoons lemon zest

2/3 cup fresh lemon juice, strained

1/4 cup whole milk

2 tablespoons limoncello, or other lemon-flavored liqueur, optional

Lightly butter a 9 by 13-inch baking dish with 2 teaspoons of the butter and line with 1 sheet of parchment or waxed paper. Butter the top of this sheet of paper with 1 teaspoon of the remaining butter and then lay a second sheet of parchment or waxed paper crosswise over the first sheet. The parchment should be cut large enough so that the sides are even with the top of the baking dish; this extra paper will function as handles to help you remove the lemon squares from the pan later. Set pan aside.

In a large bowl combine 1 3/4 cups of the flour, 2/3 cup of the confectioners' sugar, the cornstarch, and 3/4 teaspoon of the salt and mix thoroughly. Cut the remaining 12 tablespoons of butter into small pieces and add to the flour mixture. Using your hands, 2 forks, or a pastry blender, work the butter into the flour mixture until the mixture resembles coarse meal. Transfer the butter-flour mixture to the prepared baking dish and press into an even 1/4-inch layer along the bottom and partly up the sides of the pan. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.

While the crust is chilling, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Bake the crust until golden brown, about 20 to 25 minutes.

While the crust is baking, assemble the filling by combining the eggs, granulated sugar, flour, and lemon zest in a medium bowl and whisking until smooth. Stir in lemon juice, milk, limoncello, and remaining pinch of salt and mix well.

When the crust is golden brown, remove it from the oven and reduce the oven temperature to 325 degrees F. Stir the lemon mixture again, then pour onto the warm crust. Bake until the filling is set, about 20 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Grasp the waxed paper that lines the 2 longest sides of the baking dish and remove the bars from the pan by pulling up gently. The entire dessert should easily dislodge and come away from the pan. Transfer to a cutting board and, using a clean knife, cut into squares, wiping knife after each cut. Place a small amount of confectioners' sugar into a small sieve, and sprinkle the bars with the sugar. Serve immediately, or refrigerate, wrapped with plastic wrap, up to 2 days, until ready to serve.

The Destroyer

The title was, believe it or not, my friend's old cat's name, Des or Dessie for short. Haha I am NOT kidding. Anyways. I just loved the casual-cool look of the destroyed denim shorts at Alexander Wang S/S 08 RTW, I decided to make my own with a pair of my sister's way-too-big shorts.

What you need:

-denim shorts

-scissors

-thread picker

-cheese grater (don't roll your eyes bella knows what she's doing 30% of the time)

Using the small side of the grater, rub it up against the fabric, gently pressing it with your hand. Here is what you'll see, the stages of destroying:

One hole down! Next, gently rub the grater on the oppsite side, but not too much. I created a very small hole off to the side just to ad a bit to it. I cut out the pockets so they wouldn't get in the way of the destroying.

And now, a suggested outfit to capture Wang's "look". I added a scrunchy blouse, a black braided belt to keep the shorts up and ad an edgier vibe, and some fresh, cool kicks to keep the whole outfit in line.

D.I.Y Bracelet and Pin

Being sick has its advantages: LOTS of spare time! So i decided to revamp a few ugly bracelets and create something new.

The bracelet is made out of this wooden-beaded golf counter which i cut apart and took all the beads out of. i de-linked half of a silver heart-link bracelet with pliers, and tied a bit of suede string to one end, added some beads, and tied it to the other. I was inspired by the Lulu Frost DIY in Nylon.

The hairpin is simply an old black clip, and a friend's necklace, which she made for me. I cut the string of the necklace to get the center bead (the ladybug) and super-glued it to the end of the plain black hairpin. Voila. A little second-grade, but i love it.

Here's a behind-the-scenes video of the Nylon cover shoot starring Mary-Kate Olsen. I love her inspirations.."old movies...like dress up". This tiny starlet is too adorable, you just can't hate her. I love the dress she wears in the shoot with that black headband. The song is amazing too, a perfect fit. And I must say, I adore her hair...not that I am biased AT ALL considering its like mine on its good days.

By far, my favorite perfume is Vera Wang Princess. I know, some say its over-used and generic, but I will tell you a little fact: everyone's body has different chemistry! So perfumes don't smell the same on anyone else like they smell on you. On me this perfume's undernotes (vanilla, pink guava etc) are more powerful, with just a hint of florals. It's deliciously lovely and whenever I wear it I feel just like a princess. Put your inner royalty to the test with Vera Wang Princess.

Marc Jacobs NEVER fails to shock me with his amazing talent. This spring he cooked up something unheard of, but 100% awesome. Backwards heels. In his Spring '08 campaign, Victoria Beckham is pictured in a Marc Jacobs bag, legs sticking out, with these same shoes in black and white on. Hilarious, and a stroke of genius! Marc, your talent amazes me once again.

Super Easy Peanut Butter Cookies:

1 cp. smooth PB

1 cp. white sugar

1 egg

1. Mix all the ingredients together. Place on an ungreased baking sheet.

2. Cook in a 375 degree oven untill a toothpick inserted in the middle of the cookie comes out clean. (usually 8-10 mins)

3. Let them cool on a cookie rack.

4. Enjoy!
